About this tour
Discover Iceland’s raw natural beauty on a 7-hour adventure to Goðafoss, Hverfjall crater, and Dettifoss waterfall. Perfect for nature lovers and those looking for a bit of adventure, this tour offers scenic landscapes, rewarding hikes, and impressive waterfalls, all in one memorable day. Embark on a 7-hour journey from Akureyri Port, exploring some of North Iceland’s most striking natural sights. Your first stop is Goðafoss Waterfall, known as the “Waterfall of the Gods.” Here you can watch the glacial water flow over the wide, curved falls into the river below. Next, we head towards the volcanic landscape of Hverfjall crater. A moderate hike brings you up to the rim of this large explosion crater, where you’ll have wide views over the surrounding lava fields and geothermal areas. The final main stop is Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Standing near the falls, you can feel the ground vibrate as the water rushes into the canyon below. Its size and force make it one of the highlights of the day. Along the way, we provide a light packed lunch to keep your energy up. Throughout the tour, your guide will share insights into the geology and history of the area, while keeping the experience relaxed and personal.
